Step 6 dc circuit.
Tone out speaker wires.
100ft 12 gauge speaker wire 1 pair copper cable in spool for connecting audio stereo to amplifier surround sound system tv home theater and car stereo pyle psc12100 by pyle 28 13 28.
The tone generator cable tester is the main testing unit and is used to test cable continuity for coaxial cables rj45 and rj11 cables and for individual wires using the attached alligator clips.
Move the switch on the device to the tone setting.
If your wire has light colored insulation this stripe or dash may be dark.
If there is an unbroken circuit through the speaker there will be a continuous tone output from the multimeter and or the meter will not read ol open.
This will tone down and turn off the speaker volume.
So if you ever find yourself trying to trace out speaker wires or data wires use an analog tone generator and probe.
If the insulation is a dark color the stripe or dash is more likely to be white.
To test the continuity of the wires themselves and both ends of a single wire and test the continuity.
Take a couple of wires and establish contact with the dc circuit.
A detachable remote terminator is used for rj45 and rj11 cables to provide the continuity link at the remote end of the cable.
You can determine the positive wire by looking at the led.
If a speaker wire doesn t have a two tone color scheme look for a single stripe or dashed lines these usually indicate the positive end along one of the sides.
Another use of the tone generator is to test the speakers in your cars.
