I am working on a 72 c10 with a 307 350 turbo combination.
Th350 detent cable leak.
And it seems to almost completely drain the fluid so much that the car will barely move.
In japan especially in the city there are so many traffic lights and stop signs that the kickdown can actually be completely removed.
I currently have a leak coming from the cable dripping on front.
I would say it is about 3 8 tall slides over the plastic part that sticks in the trans.
Ct2827 a new kickdown cable detent boot for the th350 turbo 350 and th350c.
So it s perfectly ok to remove it.
Some have just a square cut type o ring sometmes they dont fit right.
This week i decided to put an end to this leaky madness.
Please check to be sure your kickdown cable uses a boot type seal not an oring.
It had no sign of front or rear seal leakage so i replaced the filter and pan gasket and then test drove it for several days.

Th350 has in fact a detent cable not a throttle valve cable.
I have a mildly built th350 that seems to leak from the detent cable fitting when it sits overnight.
The kickdown cable port on the th350 transmission is a common issue.

I wouldnt think that the tightly adjusted kickdown would caused it to leak.

On both of my th350 s i have a rubber sleeve type seal on the cable.
I am about to replace the cable with a lokar braided cable.
A new kickdown cable detent boot for the th350 and th350c.
